My fee is $875 including GST.
I'm based in central Auckland and am happy to travel for your celebration.
Additional costs could raise the fee. These could be travel for ceremonies more than 1 hour from central Auckland, ferry costs or necessary accommodation. If the event calls for a bit more than the usual fee, I'll quote this after our first meeting.
"Why do celebrants charge so much?"
It may seem as though celebrants are charging a silly fee for a few hours work but there is more involved than what you and your guests see. Here is what I do:
1.5hr - First meeting so that we can get to know each other and I can learn your story and answer questions. After I've heard back that I'm the right person for you, I'll go ahead and prepare and send through a resource pack.
1 hr - Drafting questions about the details of the ceremony for you to think more about.
5 hr - Writing and editing your ceremony. Because the written ceremony is the heart of your union, I'll be doing quite a lot of work on this to get it just right. No two ceremonies are the same. We'll send drafts back and forth to each other and I will always be available to talk anything through on the phone. If you'd like, we'll meet again to discuss anything more like vows or specific details.
1.5hr - Second meeting (if required)
2 hr - I keep in touch via phone or email in the months before your ceremony to answer any questions and talk you through the process of applying for your marriage/ civil union license. We'll also keep in touch to confirm details and update each other on any changes to the ceremony.
3 hr - I spend time finalising the ceremony so that it reads naturally and I know it well. I prepare a special keepsake copy for the day that will be yours.
Up to 3.5hr including travel - The rehearsal. We'll run through everything and make sure that everyone knows what they're doing and when. I'll speak with your coordinator and iron out any details so that the day goes perfectly.
Up to 4hr including travel - The ceremony! I'll arrive 30 minutes before your guests arrive to discuss any last minute details with your coordinator. I'll get your paperwork from you or your coordinator and organise the signing table. Once everyone is ready, I'll begin the ceremony and hold the space until you're officially wed. I'll be around for a bit afterwards to say my congratulations. The next day I'll file all appropriate paperwork with the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Once you add it up, you can see that my rate is fairly modest but I love the process so much that it's worth every minute!
